So what is ship day? Well, its the day the ships come in that we deal with. We have to go on the ship and shuffle the people to get them off in their correct groups. Or we go on the train (same on as I road the other day) and take payment for the tours they will be taking in town, so they can get on their tours right away! All went well today! There hasn't been much going on. It seems as if I have been here much longer then a week and a half.
The other day, we went into Whitehorse, Canada, so I can now say I have been out of the country twice! We had a great lunch at a Japanese Restaurant where we all had sushi. Then we went to a Canadian Superstore, which is the same as a Wal-Mart. The prices on everything is much higher then in Florida. A gallon of milk is almost $6 here, and a loaf of bread is $4.36! Being able to buy food at a lower price was a really the reason for the trip! There is not a lot of selection when it comes to fresh produce. Floridians are very lucky, because we get a lot of great produce. The idea of corn-on-the-cob is foreign here. I had to get a 'green' supplement because of the lack of produce.
On the way back from Whitehorse, we saw not one but two BEARS! The first one was a brown bear and he just walked across the street, looking at us. When I get the camera out I will post pictures of it. The other bear was a black bear! This one ran for the hills when he saw us! The black bears are much smaller. To be able to see two bears in one day was quit the treat.
More later...
Love you all,
Sarah
